Suyash Mohan, MD, reports on the 2016 revision of the 4th edition of the WHO classification of tumors of the central nervous system, revised in light of new molecular and genetic information. In so doing, Dr. Mohan discusses five key updates to the edition, including the elimination of gliomatosis cerebri as a distinct entity (as of 2016, gliomatosis is a pattern of growth that can be displayed by any infiltrating glioma) and the addition of diffuse leptomeningeal glioneuronal tumors and other new tumors to the canon. Illustrated throughout with descriptive scans and illustrations, Dr Mohan’s presentation offers sights for both practicing radiologists and pathologists.
