Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) Therapy

Penn Heart & Vascular interventionalist Howard Herrmann, MD, and cardiac surgeon Joseph Bavaria, MD, offer the insight of principal investigators as they discuss transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) therapy, a procedure for the treatment of aortic valve degeneration and aortic stenosis developed, in part, at Penn Medicine. During TAVR, a synthetic valve is guided into the heart inside a catheter and placed over the stenosed valve to replace it.
