The First Intercontinental Grand Rounds: The Department of Neurosurgery at Mount Sinai and COVID-19

The Department of Neurosurgery at Mount Sinai Health System held its first Intercontinental Grand Rounds on Wednesday, April 1, featuring neurosurgeons from several European countries discussing how their institutions have responded to COVID-19. Topics included the redeployment of neurosurgeons and staff to care for COVID-19 patients, while determining which neurosurgical cases will receive priority. Critical care experts from New York City—the epicenter of the pandemic in the United States—spoke about current conditions in ICUs. And on a personal note, Joshua B. Bederson, MD, offered a tribute to renowned neurosurgeon James Goodrich, MD, who passed away from COVID-19 recently.
