Uterine corpus malignancies are the most common gynecologic cancers in the United States with an estimated 41,100 cases in 2008. Because of inherent inaccuracies associated with clinical staging, the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) adopted surgical staging in 1988.
