Robotic surgical technology, and speci cally the da Vinci® System represents the most significant advancement in minimally invasive surgery (MIS) of this decade. The da Vinci® System was developed by the Stanford Research Institute, the United States (U.S.) Defense Department, and the National Aero- nautics and Space Administration in an attempt to allow telesurgery for wounded soldiers.
