As Mount Sinai responded to the COVID-19 pandemic in New York, leadership knew from the experience of 9/11 and other large disasters that aftereffects would include psychiatric sequelae such as depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. The Mount Sinai Center for Stress, Resilience and Personal Growth was established to address the psychosocial impact of COVID-19 on the mental health and lives of front-line health care providers. Deborah Marin, MD, Jordyn Feingold, MAPP, Jonathan DePierro, PhD, and Craig Katz, MD, discuss the stresses caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the immediate measures taken to support front-line workers, and the evolution into the Center.
